This makes me exceedingly happy.

Here's my ceiling as of yesterday.  Remind me to buy the electrician a gift card to the movie theater too.

I think they're all flying in formation taking Nate Dogg (RIP) to heaven.

  1. Woo! First comment!

Anyway, you have an excellent electrician with an eye for design! He deserves an attaboy for his ceiling design.

The drywall work looks really good, too!

It looks like you hired a really good group.

  5. I worked on a project once where the contractor was sometimes a bit hasty, and the craftsmanship suffered. He asked me, "why are architects and designers so picky?"

    To which I replied:

    1. If something's important enough to do, it's important enough to do well.

    2. "If we were building your house, would you want this mess in it?", referring to the work that needed correcting.

    3. The secret to getting an installation past my (or any other AD professional's) scrutiny, is to respect adjacency and alignment.

Your contractor's clearly take pride in their work.

    Anyway...

  6. Izzy - I think you should start compiling and posting all of your work stories! And I couldn't agree more with what you said. I know things aren't going to be perfect but I like to see thoughtfulness at the very least. Glad to know I'm not the only one who likes to see something like this!

  8. Finished drywall is my favourite part of any remodel. It means all the "unknown" stuff is done. That, and I like feeling like I'm on the set of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

  9. The photo isn't wide enough - do the lights form a pentagram?

I'm sorry that your dog died. I thought you had a cat...

  10. Arne - I know! It goes from a construction site to a real room immediately! So fresh and so clean clean.

David - they form the inner diamond to a pentagram... which I'll just call a normal pentagon from now on. Sadly Nate Dogg wasn't mine - he was all of ours. I poured a little of my morning 40 out for him yesterday... You might just want to google all that.
